Police and crime commissioner: Suspect in alleged assault of a teenage boy in England is a TRANSGENDER, not a woman.

Matthew Barber, the police and crime commissioner for the Thames Valley Police in southeast England, has publicly criticized his own police force for failing to mention in a press release that a 51-year-old suspect in the alleged assault of a teenage boy is a trans-identifying man, rather than a woman.

In a statement posted on the police force’s official website on Feb. 11, the organization stated that “a woman has been charged in connection with sexual offenses” without acknowledging the self-declared transgender status of Osareen Omoruyi, the alleged child sex offender.

“Thames Valley Police have, mistakenly, in my view, relied on the ‘self-described gender’ in publishing a press release that incorrectly states that a woman has been charged with these offenses,” Barber wrote on their official website.

Barber declared that the police force was “clearly wrong” in relying on gender self-identification when referring to Omoruyi as a woman in the press release. He stressed the importance of accurate information in criminal cases, especially those involving serious sexual offenses.

“The police and other criminal justice agencies must deal in facts, as best evidenced to them at the time. Any failure to do so risks damaging public confidence and overshadowing excellent policing in the interests of public safety. In cases of serious sexual offending when public protection is at stake, the vast majority of people will rightly expect the criminal justice system to deal in facts and nothing more.

The accused in this case, Osareen Omoruyi, is a 51-year-old male,” he wrote. 

Omoruyi, who has been charged with two counts each of sexual assault by penetration and causing a child to engage in sexual activity, allegedly assaulted a teen boy around Witan Way, near a public shopping area, in the town of Witney in Oxfordshire, England.

According to the information gathered from the social media accounts of Omoruyi, he is a trans individual with multiple Facebook accounts that he uses to interact with himself and leave positive comments on his own photos.

Omoruyi has shared photos of himself in London, often using filter applications to enhance his appearance. Another account on X, believed to belong to Omoruyi, follows accounts of prostitutes, those that share porn and of trans activists. The same X account also shared private contact information for alleged “hookups” and prostitution transactions.

Moreover, Omoruyi shared a promotional image for a Guyana Trans United drag festival in June 2022. In 2019, Omoruyi posted a young man in bondage fetish gear and lingerie, with the caption, “I love crossdressing,” on one of his Facebook accounts.

Thames Valley Police tries to defend its mistake

In response to the criticism of the commissioner, the Thames Valley Police claimed that it only adheres to the law and guidelines when establishing the gender of a person in custody.

“Thames Valley Police is aware some public concern has been shared on social media following the publication of our charge release on Friday in relation to a sexual offences investigation in Witney. Thames Valley Police adheres to the law and the codes of practice, including the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) Code C, when establishing the gender of a person in our custody.

“The individual identified as a female and the officers treated them as such in accordance with the College of Policing Authorized Professional Practice, which outlines that officers should treat the person according to their stated preference.

Consequently, our charge press release that was published reflected this position,” the police organization wrote in its official statement.

But despite the defense, Omoruyi has been remanded to a male prison.
